Dissemination of appropriate technologies

In addition to our research work, we in Antenna support the transfer of appropriate technologies to developing countries through:
- Our own pilot projects in the field to validate promising technologies.
- Providing technical and financial assistance to other field projects in large-scale dissemination. Our partners in this are international and governmental organisations, NGOs, and local associations and foundations.
- Support to activities in awareness-building, training by a network of technical specialists and project design.
The objective is to guide projects towards technical and financial autonomy, and for them to create a permanent economic activity which is guaranteed by local communities being directly involved. The idea then is that they can master the know-how and technologies provided to them, and on this basis further grow their autonomy.
Field programmes started and supported by Antenna
In Antenna, we support more than 60 programmes in some 20 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. They operate in the following areas:
- Combating malnutrition: This was historically the very first field of action for the foundation. We have launched, and nurtured, a good many programmes in the local production of spirulina as a food supplement, through Antenna Technologies itself and our emerging peers in France and in Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, India, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal). More
- Access to safe drinking water: Thanks to the assistance of our field partners, we participate in the implementation of WATASOL programmes. This approach combine hygiene awareness building with local drinking water treatment through the local production of chlorine (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Djibouti, DRC, Guinea, Haiti, India, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Pakistan and Togo). More
- Agriculture: the development of Ecoparks, which combine spirulina cultivation with market gardening and training, in India, Mali and Madagascar, is designed to improve national food security. More
- Microcredit: the Antenna Green Trust, based in India, runs microcredit programmes serving women, through setting up self-help groups. More
