Malnutrition : a silent threat

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights attributes to each human being the right to food, health and lodging...

Today, more than a third of the inhabitants of our planets are deprived of the basic right to food. More than hunger, the real problem today is malnutrition : micro-nutrient deficiencies (lack of vitamines, minerals, and essential amino acids) are hampering growth and impede vital functions (WHO 1996).

Antenna Technolgy fights malnutrition by developing the tools necessary for the local production of an exceptional nutritional complement: spirulina.

According to UNICEF estimates, thirteen million children die each year from malnutrition, i.e. 36.000 children per day. Over 230 million children below the age of five suffer from malnutrition. This provokes delays and physical and intellectual growth, diminishes immunitary defenses and attracts infectuous diseases. National economies pay a high price for malnutrition due to the damage it causes among the active population. The World Bank estimates that malnutrition has cost India 9% of its GNP in 1996.
